Spiral Hatch Styles

Use spiral hatch styles to add a hatch with contour or circular spirals to a shape.

To add or edit hatch styles, use the Catalog tab of the Catalog Manager. For more information, refer to Add Hatch Styles or Edit Hatch Styles.

Table:     Spiral Hatch Style Settings

Hatch Style Setting Description

Hatch Style Name

The name of the hatch style. Each hatch style in your project must have a unique name.

Line Distance

The distance between each line in the spiral.

Spiral Type

The type of spiral to use for the hatch:

  • Contour — Makes a spiral that follows the contour of the shape that you hatch.
  • Circular — Makes a round spiral that is centered at the center of the shape that you hatch.

Orientation

The orientation, which is clockwise or counterclockwise, of the spiral.

Direction

The direction, which is inbound or outbound, of the spiral.

Hole Mode

This mode specifies how CADFusion draws the spiral only if the shape contains holes:

  • CircumscribeCADFusion draws the spiral around holes in the shape.
  • Skip — First CADFusion draws the spiral and ignores holes in the shape. Then it removes the part of the spiral that is in the holes.

For more information, refer to Example: Hole Mode that follows.

If the shape does not contain holes, this mode does not have an effect.

Border Offset Mode

This mode specifies the type of border offset for the hatch:

  • None — No border is applied. CADFusion puts the hatch contents in position with the edge of the shape that you hatch.
  • Inside — Adds a margin between the hatch contents and the edge of the shape that you hatch.
  • Outside — Adds an overlap between the hatch contents and the edge of the shape that you hatch.

Border Offset Distance

Specifies the distance, for the margin or the overlap, between the edge of the shape and the edge of the hatch contents.

Rounding Angle

Use this angle to keep non-rounded outside corners or to apply corner rounding to the outside corners in the border offset of the shape:

  • If you do not want CADFusion to round the outside corners, specify a value of 0°.
  • If you want CADFusion to round all of the outside corners, specify a value of 180°.

You can also specify values between 0° - 180°. For more information, refer to .

Approximating Lines in Spiral Hatches

When you export your CADFusion project to an AeroScript program, CADFusion will approximate all splines in a spiral hatch. When you export your CADFusion project to an AeroBasic program, CADFusion might approximate one or more splines in a spiral hatch.

Specify the Tolerance value in the Beziers/Splines section of the Project Settings dialog. For more information, refer to Export to an AeroScript or AeroBasic Program.
